Stratus Takes On: Ambient Gospel

You can do nearly any tone imaginable with Stratus! In this series, we want to provide inspiration and ideas to explore the possibilities. This month: How to achieve an atmospheric, ambient sound with ease. It has a gospel/worship feel to it that is also relaxing. Hear the preset here or click the card!

  • The order of effects is completely up to you; so experiment with the arrangement to find your tone. Your guitar/amp and set up will slightly affect the sound.

  • As a starting place, you can put the effects in order of: Drive, Delay, Reverb. For knob values, refer to our settings shown in the picture above, but feel free to adjust knobs to your own taste.

  • In this preset, the Pegasus boost drive comes first to put the subsequent effects center stage so that you can clearly hear their behavior. Second is Mariner - it is an interesting delay that adds this warbling, warped, oscillating sound to your playing. It creates texture and depth. Finally, Cosmos is at the end. This effect blends and softens the sound, creating additional breadth and depth.

  • This is a simple example board to get you started, and can of course be altered to fit your vision for the sound. I hope you like it!

The preset and demo were created by Richie Nobrega Jr., the guitarist also known as NobesMusic. The preset explanation was provided by Kyla of Chaos Audio.
